My name is Ang ‘Leon’ Li, or ‘李昂’ in Chinese characters. I am a final-year PhD candidate in Human-Computer Interaction at the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, The University of Queensland, Australia, and expect to complete my PhD in October 2026. My supervisors are A/Prof Maxime Cordeil, Dr Jarrod Knibbe, Prof Gianluca Demartini, and A/Prof Stephen Viller. I also work closely with Dr Charles Perin on immersive visualisation for running.
Prior to my PhD candidature at UQ, I completed a Bachelor of Computer Science Advanced (Honours) at Monash University, graduating as the Dux with First Class Honours. My honours thesis concerned the visualisation and analysis of gesture data in immersive environments, supervised by A/Prof Barrett Ens and A/Prof Maxime Cordeil in Monash University’s Embodied Visualisation Research Group.
My research focuses on Human-Computer Interaction, Extended Reality, and immersive analytics. I investigate how data visualisation and interaction in augmented and virtual environments can support in-situ decision-making during sports and other activities in motion.
I will commence as a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Inria AVIZ group in November 2026, working with Dr Petra Isenberg and A/Prof Romain Vuillemot. My work will explore advanced situated visualisations for sports videos.
